Bespoke Wallpaper with Tatar Art Projects

I am very excited to be in great company as one of the designers in the Tatar Art Projects roster, featuring bespoke wallpaper designs for boutique hotels, restaurants and other interiors.  Past clients have included W Hotel, the Gladstone Hotel, and VICTOR at Hotel Le Germain.  Tatar Art Projects is now integrated as a hybrid art + design showcase within the Klaus Nienkamper showroom.

Hotel Le Germain_VICTOR 8

.

I visited a wood veneer fabricator today in order to fine tune the herringbone pattern and select the best grain matching approach for the new VICTOR bar fronts.  I am extremely fortunate to be able to have this kind of relationship with builders and suppliers.  This company cuts its own high quality veneers and creates beautiful panels using light tables to carefully look for undesireable flaws in the grain.

Yesterday I visited the country property of a client in order to begin the design for a new waterfront cabana.  It was the perfect warm fall day with trees turning red and gold, and crisp still air that barely disturbed the surface of the water.  This building type is a favorite - a small gem of a leisure building, in a gorgeous setting.

Easy Decisions

Over the years I have come across a handful of companies that really highlight the importance of a solid philosophy, attention to detail, service, and an understanding of cultural relationships that pervade all aspects of one's work.  For instance, yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting the showroom of the high end flooring company Moncer in Jordan, in the middle of Ontario's Niagara wine country.  Really the experience was not about finding a hardwood floor, but about understanding that each decision in the design process needs to resonate on a number of different levels - that there needs to be integrity in the decision.  This makes the choices very easy, actually.  I'm lucky to be able to work with people who bring this kind of dimension to a project, and I hope to deal exclusively with these kinds of relationships.
