2011 Applied Arts Design Awards

I'm thrilled - BACKYARD DESIGN (the graphic design company I own in partnership with Yesim Tosuner), has just won an Applied Arts design award.  We're in great company!

Anstey Book Binding is also an award recipient - we are very excited to be currently working with them on an Oscar Peterson Folio of photographs for photography studio Gilbert & Associates.  They will be fabricating a beautiful limited edition box of Japanese silk and black leather, with letterpress inserts.

Patio Optimism

.

As I was sourcing furnishings for the Thompson Hotel (poolside cabana and Scarpetta patio) I zipped around the city to check out the latest offerings.  FRESH has a comprehensive showroom - this is the display area between their two spaces.  I was tickled by how the furniture and the hints of greenery were peeking out from the melting snow on that crisp and sunny day - a vision of Canadian patio optimism.  Warmer weather is around the corner, finally!
