Happy Holidays!

It is perfect timing to have a few precious days to decompress and refocus, to spend time with family and friends, and to think about the new year ahead.  There is much to be grateful for!  There are a number of really exciting projects on the boards right now, and I am looking forward to the new posts in the weeks ahead.

Thanks to Emma from The Marion House Book for swinging by for coffee and a chat on her 'Hello Neighbour' tour.  See her post here.

Thank you to Design Lines for the article in the Fall issue!  Finn O'Hara took great photos, Alex Bozikovic wrote the piece, and we enjoyed sharing the stories behind each of the design elements with the editors.
.
The house is still very much a work in progress as we gradually refine all of the finishing details and renovate other areas.  It has certainly undergone a dramatic transformation already!  Our priority was to open it up as much as possible, with high ceilings, bright white walls, simple lines, a sensible plan, and a beautiful new engineered walnut floor that flows throughout the ground level.  The rest - one detail at a time...
.
One clarification: The Jens Risom inspired bench is a 3rd Uncle piece for the Drake Hotel.

Parkdale Victorian Reno_Garden

.
This tiny pocket garden has been designed with cedar fences and furniture, cedar planter boxes at bench height filled with tomatoes and herbs, and a little Japanese maple tree, making the most of a small space. The garage on the lane will be converted to a working studio and gym.

Parkdale Victorian Reno

A work in progress, this is a tiny Victorian in Parkdale, Toronto.  The ground floor was completely gutted, exposing the original douglas fir joists and removing dividing walls to create a loft-like space within a narrow footprint.  Walnut floors and white walls further maximize the perception of height and light.
